If you have an air fryer, you are probably always looking for new things to make. If you don’t,
you are probably sick of hearing about air fryers. I highly recommend fixing this by getting an air
fryer.

Once you have one, you can make these amazing, super easy air fryer frozen steak fries,
with a special twist- garlic! They are inspired by some that I first tried two decades ago, which
were so good they’ve stuck with me ever since.

They only take five ingredients, and minimal time.

Let’s Get Started

Okay, so as I mentioned, you only need five ingredients:

  • frozen steak fries. (You could make these from scratch, if you wanted to, but that’s a lot of
extra steps. I’m all about an easy, healthful snack today. If steak fries aren’t your thing, simply
adjust the cooking time down a little for smaller fries.)

  • Fresh garlic cloves. You really can’t get away with using the powder, not this time.

  • Olive oil. Or if you don’t have any, regular old veggie oil will do just fine.

  • Herbs. If you have fresh, wonderful. I’d go with chives and parsley. I didn’t, so I just used a
fairly standard dried Italian herb blend. It turned out great, and minimized the prep work.
  • Salt and Pepper

And that’s it. Now on to the prep stage.

To get frozen steak fries good and crispy in an air fryer, you want to cook them in rounds. And
it’s always better to do multiple smaller batches, then just one big one. For steak fries, cover the
bottom of your fryer basket, with no stacking or overlapping.

I cook them at 400° F for five minutes, then pull the basket out and give it a good shake. Back
in for five more minutes. Pull them, check them, then set the timer for five more minutes. But
after 2=3, pull them early and check them again.

Depending on whether or not your fryer is preheated, this last stage may be done before the five minutes is up.

Once the fries are done, put them aside and cook any remaining batches the same way. Your air fryer frozen steak fries are nearly done! I had a 28 ounce bag of fries, and used half. So all proportions here are for about 14 ounces of fries. It took two batches to cook.

Make the seasoning

While your fries are cooking, it’s time to make your topping.

First off, peel one clove of fresh garlic, and cut off the stem end. Once that’s done, slice it as
thinly as you can. Channel your inner sushi chef. Once you have your garlic rounds, cut these
just into slivers. No need to mince it completely. You’ll end up with about a tablespoon of
chopped fresh garlic. Add one teaspoon of the Italian herbs.

Wait ’til your fries are all cooked, and put them in a large bowl. Lightly drizzle the oil on top. You
don’t need much, just enough to make the seasoning stick. Toss them to lightly coat. Your fries
shouldn’t feel oily or soggy. If they do, you put too much oil on them.

Next sprinkle on your garlic/herb mixture, then salt and pepper to taste. Toss the fries to evenly distribute everything, and then transfer to a serving dish, bowl, basket, whatever you have on hand. And that’s it!
Enjoy.
